Travelling with a gluten free diet can be a real challenge if you don’t know where to look. As someone who is gluten free myself, I understand the extra steps required in holiday-research and the added anxiety of ‘what am I going to eat?’ And let’s face it, food is one of the best parts about a holiday, especially a city break! The good news is that Bath has plenty of spots for gluten freers to enjoy! Here is a list of my favourites to help you in your research.
Dough Pizzeria
Basically, anytime we eat out in Bath, this is our go-to. Dough, located in Kingsmead Square, has the best gluten free pizza dough. And not just one kind, you can choose from a range of options including hemp, turmeric, purple-corn and more. It is hands-down the best gluten free pizza I’ve had. They are also extra careful with their allergens, so coeliacs need not worry one bit.
Palette
Just around the corner from the YMCA, this little cafe just opened recently on Walcot Street. It is such a gorgeous spot, with an emphasis on great art and great coffee! The shop is dangerously wonderful, and if you keep going up the stairs you will find a gallery space. They have recently sourced good gluten free bread which you can swap out for on their lunch menu, and their gluten free cake options are excellent, can confirm personally!
The Green Rocket
The Green Rocket is a vegan staple in Bath, located just near Parade Gardens. If you are vegan as well as gluten free, this is a great spot. They’ve got plenty of gluten free options in their delicious menu. Their sister cafe Cascara is also worth checking out!
Society Cafe
With two spots in Bath, Society Cafe is one of the top cafes for locals and tourists. It has a great variety of drinks options (their current summer drinks menu is incredible). They have plenty of cakes with non-gluten containing ingredients on their menu as well. It is a great spot to sit and enjoy a coffee and cake break as you explore the city.
Good Day Cafe
A fantastic spot for brunch, there are so many options on the menu that can be made gluten free! Good Day also have a great selection of gf cakes that are out of this world delicious. They even have a little menu for doggos!
Saarthi Restaurant
Saarthi is great vegetarian/vegan Indian restaurant on Walcot Street. They have a large menu with a huge range of gluten free options. It is also a great option for takeaway if you feel like a night in.
Noya’s Kitchen
Noya’s Kitchen is an award-winning Vietnamese restaurant in Bath, for good reason! Their food is fresh and delicious, and luckily the majority of Vietnamese food is already gluten free! They also do cooking classes which is well worth looking into.
Some other great spots to try out include places like Wolf Wine and The Raven where you can grab a gluten free Mooless Moo pie with mash. Cosy Club is always a great choice for coeliacs as they are super on it with allergens.
