We are lucky to be based in one of the most beautiful cities in the world, surrounded by Georgian architecture and steeped in history. While there are some obvious must-sees during your visit, such as the Roman Baths and the Abbey, the city is also full of hidden gems that will make your visit memorable and unique.
- Larkhall village
Nestled just on the edge of town is the lovely little village of Larkhall. Here you can find Larkhall Butchers, which supplies numerous local businesses, as well as a cafe, deli, florist and more. The Rondo Theatre is a great way to see some local theatre or get lost browsing the books in Beaufort Bookshop. Larkhall is within walking distance or easily accessible by bus. If you’re visiting in May, be sure to check out the dates of the Larkhall Festival.
Bath Boating Station
- Hire boats from Bath Boating Station
When the weather is nice, the best way to enjoy it is on the water. You can hire rowboats from Bath Boating Station and either paddle out towards Bathampton, a quiet stretch of river with the Bathampton Mill and weir, or you can head towards Pultney Bridge and check out the city from a different perspective.
- Rooted Cafe
Rooted Cafe and Supper Rooms is a true hidden gem, located on the bottom of Chelsea Road (where you can find some great shops), Rooted is a Vegetarian/Vegan restaurant with Indian inspiration. Everything on the menu is delicious, you will have trouble deciding! They also have a supper club, which you can book in advance.
- A secret Georgian garden
If you are visiting the Crescent and the Circus, not far from the two is a secret Georgian garden. It is free to enter and offers a glimpse into the past, as well as a peaceful respite from the sometimes-busy city.
- Mary’s of Charlcombe – the oldest church in Bath
If you are visiting Bath, there is a good chance you are interested in history. A little ways outside of town, you’ll find St. Mary’s of Charlcombe, and beautiful little church that has been a religious site for over 1000 years. The church itself is the older church in Bath. In the gardens, you’ll also find the Holy Well. While in the area, it is worth stopping into the Hare & Hounds for a drink and some excellent views.

- Bath City Farm
If you love animals, Bath City Farm is an excellent way to spend a few hours. Free to enter, you can wander through the farm and meet all of the animals, including miniature ponies, goats, alpacas and more. The farm has some stunning views over the valley and is a great place to watch the sunset. They now have an onsite cafe as well and host community events. If you are travelling with kids, this is a fantastic family activity.
- The Packhorse
Located just outside of town in Southstoke, this wonderful community run pub is a cosy spot with great food and a beautiful garden. The pub has been around since at least 1674, but maybe longer. There is definitely a ye olde feel to it, with huge fireplaces and beautiful wooden beams. Just around the corner from the pub is a lovely path with gorgeous views.
- Wolf Wine
Located on Walcot Street, this wine bar is an excellent hidden gem. The owners really know their stuff and you will find a unique selection of fantastic wines. The building is rustic and vibey, full of interesting cosy quirky decor and great music. If you are into wine and good vibes, Wolf Wine is the place for you.
